adidas and Transport for London Release the “Oyster Club Pack”
At the beginning of this year, adidas presented a pretty interesting collab with Berlin’s BVG on the EQT Support 93/Berlin. Now the Three Stripes brand unveils another public transport-inspired sneakers with the Transport for London x adidas collection.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the world-renowned Oyster Card, adidas and TfL release three sneakers that pay homage to London’s creators and the heartbeat that keeps the city moving. Limited to 1500 pairs, each style also includes an Oyster card topped up with £80 credit. A premium leather Oyster Card holder and bespoke packaging, inspired by vintage underground posters to honour the heritage of the London Underground add even more exclusivety.
First up, the ZX 500 RM takes inspiration from vintage advertising posters found in abandoned train stations. The semi-translucent outsole shows the London Underground colour world pattern, while the ‘Hidden London’ roundel appears on the tongue of the right foot. This design element celebrates London Transport Museum’s exclusive programme of tours and events at disused stations and secret sites across the city.
The Continental 80 pays homage to the first ever underground line in the world, known today as the Metropolitan line. The most notable design feature is a special embroidery on the side of the shoe, which reveals the line’s original map. A brand new execution on the medial and lateral webbing tape as well as metal lace tips that match the familiar Metropolitan line colour finalize the design.
Last but not least, the Temper Run is dedicated to the Oyster Card’s 15th anniversary. It features a debossed ‘Mind The Gap’ roundel on the left foot tongue, and reflective detailing across the upper. Colorful details across the tongue and heel contrast the shoe’s grey upper and white midsole, adding a unique look to the silhouette.
