Resuming one of their most succesful sneaker collabs, Supreme presents a follow-up to their 2015 Air Jordan 5. The Supreme x Nike Air Jordan 14 pays homage to memorable moments in MJ’s career.
First released back in 1998, the AJ14 was the last main line model that launched before Michael Jordan’s second retirement. The basketball legend famously wore the shoe during Game 6 of the 1998 NBA finals. In this game against the Utah Jazz, he sunk the winning shot with five seconds left in the game to secure his sixth Championship title and second three-peat. In addition, this marked Jordan’s final appearance with the Chicago Bulls.
Nevertheless, the Air Jordan 14 is a rather underappreciated model compared to other of MJ’s signature sneakers. That’s why Supreme choosing it as the blueprint for this collab continues the skate brand’s admiration for less obvious silhouettes. Their take on the AJ14 features a leather and nubuck upper with metal studs and painted midsole panels. The metal studs remind of an infamous leather jacket that Michael Jordan wore in 1995, a prime example of the basketball player’s fashion sense. A woven logo on the mesh tongue, a rubber logo heel panel and custom enamel shield graphic complete the Air Jordan sneaker. It launches in two colorways of white and black as well as black and blue.
