When it comes to referencing past eras for sneaker drops, the 90s pretty much is where it’s at right now. But with the Stranger Things x Nike collection, the Swoosh brand provides a breath of fresh air. Inspired by the Netflix show’s 1980s setting, Nike presents two drops of special retro sneakers from that era as well as matching apparel.
Even though the 80s famously sparked some of the most popular Nike Air silhouettes, this collaboration puts a focus a clear focus on classic athletic staples. The Cortez, Blazer and Tailwind channel nostalgia and feature designs that incorporate Hawkins High’s green and orange color scheme as well as the Tiger mascot. Sweat suits and complementary t-shirts channel 1980s phys-ed class style to complement the shoe line-up.
For the second drop, the three sneakers form the OG Pack and arrive in a red, white and blue color scheme to celebrate 1985 Independence Day. A year marker on the heel and special firework display sock liner further pick up the theme and finalize the designs. As season 3 of Stranger Things debuts on July 4, 2019, this collab marks the perfect chance to stock up on some vintage-styled gear before binging the new episodes.
