Nike and Skepta open up another chapter in their ongoing series of sneaker collabs. This time around, the Grime superstar chose another very specific Swoosh silhouette to get creative with. Bringing back early 2000s flavour, the Skepta x Nike SK SHOX TL “Bloody Chrome” is a staple for your roadman fit.
Skepta himself remembers taking trips from his Tottenham home turf to Manchester, where SHOX were a commong sight. “All the kids were rocking SHOX. It was a real street shoe there. I liked their swag“, the artist states. His own take on the SHOX TL now features a black upper of breathable mesh and nylon panels. Glossy TPU overlays add structure to the design and stabilize the futuristic runner, while a metallic Swoosh and SK SHOX logo appear on the sidewalls and tongue respectively. The sneaker’s definite eye-catcher is the full-length Shox sole unit though, as it uses a deep red tone to contrast the dark upper. Lion prints on the insoles then round off the collab with a nod to Skepta’s Nigerian heritage.
DID YOU KNOW?
Before being officially confirmed, the “Bloody Chrome” SHOX already appeared in Skepta’s “Bullet From A Gun” music video. Directed by Duncan Loudon, the video shows the rapper waiting for a train at London’s Camden Town tube station. While Skepta performs his verses facing the viewer, different situations – like another person getting pushed to the ground and arrested by the police” – play out next to him.
