size? and ASICS Celebrate the “Balloon Fiesta” on the GEL-SAGA

UK retailer size? presents the latest and final installment of their Japanese-themed ASICS collabs. After the “Japanese Baseball” and “36 Views” GEL-LYTE OGs, now it’s time for the size x ASICS GEL-SAGA Balloon Fiesta.

The ASICS silhouette takes its name from the Saga prefecture, located in the North of the island of Kyushu. Every year, the capital city of Saga hosts the Balloon Fiesta, one of the largest sky sports events in Asia. Since 1980, teams invited from across the globe attend to compete in a series of tasks in which markers are dropped onto a target from a great height.

To celebrate this tradition, size’s take on the GEL-SAGA pays homage to the Balloon Fiesta. In particular, a multi-colored ripstop reminiscent of that used on a hot air balloon’s envelope picks up the theme. On the other hand, the black suede elements reference the gloves worn by pilots to avoid the scorching heat of the burners.
A multi-colored “GEL-SAGA” logos then appears on the heel quarter, while a balloon graphic on the insoles adds finishing touches.

The size x ASICS GEL-SAGA Balloon Fiesta releases in limited numbers via the size previews app and in selected size? stores. It launches on November 17, 2018, priced at £90 and in UK sizes 3-12.
