Former Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci once again partners with Nike for a brand new basketball-inspired collection. This time around, the designer moves away from the ethnic style that was predominant on his previous works with Nike and instead draws inspiration from the evolution of sportswear and basketball in particular. “In the 90s, basketball players became kind of like rock stars,” he says. “But now, they are more than rock stars. They’re superhuman — representative of historic mythology.” So Riccardo Tisci x Nike came up with a fictional team named the Victorious Minotaurs to imagine their off-court uniform.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Italian once again chose to make the Air Force 1 the key piece of his latest Swoosh collection, as he himself claims to be obsessed with the silhouette. Arriving in two color variants, the white and black pair both feature the new NikeLab x RT branding as an homage to the longstanding NBA logo. Red, white and blue accents complete the hardwood-inspired look on the two AF1s.
Other pices in the collection include an an Oxford shirt, track pant and varsity jacket, forming a range of four pieces for men, two for women and a series of accessories.
