When you’re thinking about classic 90s footwear, loud and bulky silhouettes usually come to mind. But that’s only half of the story. Of course Reebok has released their fair share of clunky kicks during that decade. But the brand’s archive also features some rather plain shoes – like the Reebok Rapide.
Conceived as a running sneaker, the model sports a slim and trim look. In a deliberate act of material reduction, light nylon mesh makes up the upper and ensures both breathability and flexibility. Subtle overlays made from synthetic micro suede then add support to the silhouette, which is set atop a cushy EVA sole unit.
But don’t by fooled by the construction not matching your idea of an archetypical 90s sneaker. The Rapide’s design still oozes with golden era aesthetics, as demonstrated by the four OG colorways that launch in April.
Those who prefer clean and simple looks can choose between a black version with a simple white Vector logo or the white option with red and blue accents. Some flashy accents in teal and pink or red and purple on the other two pairs then speak to heads who are all in for a more striking style. Check out the four colorways below and read on for the release info.
