Colder days lie ahead – and thankfully, sneaker brands adapt to that. New Balance linked up with fellow US brand Red Wing to craft a sturdy variant of one of their standout silhouettes. Decked out in premium leathers and using earthy tones, the Red Wing Heritage x New Balance 997 unites the unique expertise of both collab partners.
With the 997 “Made In USA” as a base, NB banks on one of their all-time classic silhouettes. Originally released in 1990, the shoe was subject to numerous updates and collabs while always maintaining its signature appeal. The streamlined shape and subtle construction now receives an outstanding material update. Sourced from the city of Red Wing, Minnesota, the footwear company adds the premium Hawthorne Muleskin leather to the equation. The sneaker features a mix of roughout and smooth leathers, as subtle details like the triple stitched heel allude to Red Wing’s singature boots. Co-branded insoles then round off the collaboration of two true American footwear heavyweights.

Red Wing was founded in 1905 as a manufacturer of quality boots and shoes for specific purposes. Its lifestyle section primarely celebrates the brand’s distinct Americana appeal though. The starting point for that was a collaboration with J Crew, who also did several joint projects with New Balance in the past.
