The latest collaboration from Hikmet Sugoer‘s premium sneaker brand sees him teaming up with one of the world’s most influental automobile brands. With the Porsche Design x SONRA proto, the German sneaker legend celebrates his love for clasic sports cars.
If there’s one thing that Germany is known and valued for it’s manufacturing world class cars. One of the most recognizable names in the country’s automotive industry is Porsche, famous for their high performance sports cars. Since 1931, the brand from Stuttgart produces luxury whips like the 911, Boxster or Panamera. One model in particular holds a special place in Hikmet Sugoer’s heart: the 912. Porsche produced this particular car from 1965 to 1969 as an entry-level variant of the famous 911. Today, it is a cherished vintage model, symbolic for the characteristic vehicle aesthetics of its era. As a connaoisseur of both classic cars and fine design, Hikmet not only owns a 912 himself. He also chose it as the main inspiration for his SONRA collab with Porsche Design.
Sneaker Meets Sportscar
The joint project is a combination between two eras of high-class mobility made in Germany. SONRA’s proto assumes the striking yet elegant style of the 912, mixing a slate gray base with red highlights on a premium cowhide upper. The shoe partly features vegetable tanned leathers, continuing the brand’s efforts to use eco-friendly and skin-friendly materials. Next to the SONRA logo, the limited and numbered proto also sports Porsche Design branding on the heel quarter.
In addition to the regular vesion of the sneaker, SONRA and Porsche Design also created a unique special edition. Exchangig the grey main tone for a bold signal red color to match Hikmet’s real life 912. This pair is a 1-of-1 in every sense of the word since it will be only produced once in the size of the winner of a raffle.
