The November edition of the adidas Sneaker Exchange is approaching and this time around, two outstanding stores cross the big pond for a transatlantic collaboration. Teaneck, NJ’s long-established Packer Shoes and Solebox from Berlin put in joint work on two BOOST silhouettes and actually draw inspiration from the geographical distance that seperates them.
The Silfra Rift is an inland lake in Iceland, formed by the divergent tectonic drift of the North American and Eurasian plates. A unique underwater landscape with execeptionally clear water and rising air bubbles makes the site not only a popular destination for scuba divers and snorkelers , but also makes for a great theme to be adapted onto a couple of sneakers.
The cageless UltraBOOST MID stands out with a dark blue Primeknit upper, accented by light blue speckles and a grey collar. A translucent cage is used on the Energy Boost, which is wrapped around a light blue and grey Primeknit upper. Both placed atop white BOOST soles, the shoes feature “Solebox” branding on the heel counter – but spelled out in Packer’s typeface and vice versa to emphasize the collaborative nature of this project.
The co-ordinates of both stores’ locations have been applied to the shoes for further details and continue the geographical theme. A depth chart line on the grosgrain stripe also allude to the Silfra Rift’s depth and popularity among divers.
