Good news! All fans of the Nike Air Max 1 OG “University Red” don’t have to wait until Air Max Day on March 26 to get their hands on the brandnew retro – the University Red colorway will release earlier. The iconic sneaker comes back with the classic mix of synthetic suede and mesh on the upper and got the “shape” treatment. Nike heard into their big community and tried to fix all the issues people had with the sometimes bulky shape of newer Nike Air Max 1 releases.

The brandnew shape is completely improved and sharp as 10 years ago – a nice birthday present for such a legendary sneaker! The Nike Air Max 1 was originally introduced in 1987 and celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2017. Nike not only has Air Max Day this year, the whole month of March will be “Air Max Month”.

The Nike Air Max 1 OG “University Red” will be released on March 4 via several selected sneaker stores. Thanks to 43einhalb, we have these amazing “on feet” shots. Solebox Berlin will host an Air Max 1 event on March 3, with an exhibition of 30 of the rarest Air Max 1 colorways. Here’s the event on Facebook.

They’ll be available via Nike.com but also Shops such as 43einhalb, Overkill, Hanon, End Clothing, Solebox, and others will have the shoes in stock – with a 139€ price tag!
