Ever since its introduction, Nike‘s ZoomX foam cushioning gained a lot of acclaim from runners. Previously used on the Zoom Vaporfly 4% and Zoom Vaporfly Elite, it delivers 85 percent energy return and is the brand’s lightest foam. Now the Swoosh introduces the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo as the latest edition to the series.
First, let’s have a quick physics refresher: Energy can only be transferred — no system can create or destroy it. For a sneaker sole this means that you lose energy every time you compress it by applying force to it. Foam however can help you transform more energy back by springing back into its original shape.
The Zoom Pegasus Turbo’s biggest difference to its predecessors is the absence of the carbon-fiber plate. While it provides a propulsion sensation which is perfect for race day, the stiffness is a little too much for everyday use. That’s why the updated Turbo model is the best option for training runs or a casual jog.
And thanks to its striking design, the shoe also has proper street style potential. Nike combined the Zoom sole with a grayish-green upper that features vibrant red color pops on the side Swoosh and the racing stripe. Get a first look the running trainer below and read on to find out where to cop.
