Originally released in March, the Nike SB Koston 3 Hyperfeel turned heads in the skateboard industry with a previously unseen level of tech and future-forward styling. Inspired by the contoured fit of the Nike Magista football boot, Eric Koston’s third Nike pro shoe featured a Flyknit collar entry – the first use of Flyknit in skate footwear – next to a Lunarlon foam midsole and Nike Zoom Air heel cushion.
This week, Eric Koston himself had some more big news to share: Ending one year without a board sponsor – he left Girl Skateboards after more than 20 years on the roster – the LA-based pro announced his now board brand, Numbers Edition.
As one of the first orders of business, Nike SB and Numbers will release a collab shoe: The Nike SB Koston 3 Hyperfeel Numbers Edition is an understated take on the Koston 3, introducing durable rough suede in an obsidian and black upper with a copper color flash on the collar.
Underneath the cutting edge Hyperfeel tech, the shoe implements reground rubber, recycled polyester and repurposed plastics for added sustainability. As a key update, the outsole now features multidirectional flex grooves to increase flexibility.
The Swoosh is executed in muted black, while the Numbers logo is placed on the right heel and the Nike SB logo on the left. ”We wanted to keep the branding minimal and the color scheme classic so it goes with anything at anytime,” said Eric Koston. “We wanted it to be wearable 20 years ago, now and 20 years from now.”
The Nike SB Koston 3 Hyperfeel Numbers Edition will launch online on December 13 with a $150 price tag.
