Everyone knows that professional basketball players are major sneakerheads, but as it turns out, soccer players share the passion for kicks as well. In his Sneakers interview, Bayern Munich’s Mats Hummels already revealed his inner shoe nerd. And last year, FC Barcelona’s mega star Neymar even got a chance to design his own Air Jordan 5 Low.
Now that Air Max Day is approaching, Nike is upping the ante by giving some of its performance football shoes the Nike Air Max treatment. The Nike “Air Max Day” Soccer Pack is already partly available – the boots come in a choice of cleated and NikeFootballX versions – and we have the featured shoes:
First in line, the drop features Mercurials inspired by the Air Max 90 (pictured above), joined by the MercurialX indoor/court version with a non-marking sole.
Also hitting the pitch are the Hypervenoms inspired by the Air Max 95, also available as the HypervenomX (pictured above).
And how about the Tiempos inspired by the Air Max 1 (pictured above)? Classic material, right there, especially the court version TiempoX.
The icing on the cake, however, are the Magistas inspired by the Air Max 97. Football players now get to bring the “Silver Bullet” to the pitch, well played. Meanwhile, the MagistaX (pictured above) looks ready for the street with its sock booty and reflective accents.
The new Air Max-inspired boots are available in cleated and NikeFootballX versions on Nike’s website, and will be worn by professional players on pitch this week.
