Revealed to rave reactions a couple of weeks ago , the Nike React Element 87 now finally has a release date. While the first pairs actually were a collaboration with Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER label, the shoe launches as a regular Nike release in mid-June.
The semi-translucent synthetic upper features exposed seams across the forefoot and heel. A prominent eyestay uses smooth leather and suede, while the laces and 3M back pull tab feature a matching pattern. Cork insoles bring in a another interesting material choice and “Nike React” lettering graces the tongue – which of course alludes to the shoe’s tooling.
So don’t fool yourself into thinking of this one as just another bulky silhouette that chases the latest design trends. The chunky sole unit utilizes Nike’s latest React foam cushioning, finishing this sneaker with state-of-the-art technology.
The first two colorways are a the dark version in “Anthracite/Black/White” (AQ1090-001) and the light option in “Sail/Light Bone/White/Rush Orange” (AQ1090-100). And then there’s still the UNDERCOVER collab line-up which is 5 colorways strong. Rumors say that this collection launches in the fall of 2018.
