Nike Reveals the Doernbecher Freestyle 2018 Collection
Another round of Nike‘s collaboration series with Portland’s OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital launches in December. The Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 2018 collection features 6 unique sneakers designed by 6 young Doernbecher patients.
Started 15 years ago, the collab raised nearly $20 million USD for the hospital, contributing to new treatments and better care for kids by advancing medical research and supporting the work of pediatric specialists.
This year’s line-up includes models like the Air Force 1, Air Jordan XV, SB Dunk Pro Low and Air Max 97. The kids use their silhouettes of choice as an open canvas, driving the shoe design process from beginning to end. And that’s probably the biggest impact of the Freestyle program: bringing back hope for them and also instilling a sense of creative control when agency over their own lives can feel lost.
Get a closer look at the six Doernbecher sneakers for 2018 below and read on for the release info. To find out more about each design, check out Nike’s introduction of the current collection here.
