As Swoosh afficionados remember, this year’s Air Max Day came and went without a sneaker release. But with a set of four high-profile Nike Air Max 2019 Collaborations, the brand now compensates for that.
Teaming up with some outstanding global talents, Nike presents a set of remixed, recreated, re-tooled and re-imagined Air Max sneakers. The collab partners are Tokyo-based atmos, Edison Chen’s venerable CLOT, New York’s Heron Preston and the elusive Cactus Plant Flea Market.
We already saw atmos’ vintage-inspired take on the Air Max2 Light a couple of months ago. Now the all-over printed mid-90s silhouette finally sees a global release. Next up, the Clot x Nike Air Max 97/Haven melds the upper of the cult-classic Nike Zoom Haven with the Air Max 97 tooling. For the Nike Air Max 720/95 Heron Preston By You, the young designer combines the Air Max 720 and Air Max 95 while highlighting the Air-Sole with an Air-wrapped upper. In addition, the hybrid shoe will be available for customization via the Nike By You program. Finally, the CPFM x Nike Air VaporMax 2019 reimagines the VaporMax aesthetic with unique upper embellishments. The experimental design reminds of Virgil Abloh‘s deconstructed approach and puts an interesting twist on the futuristic silhouette.
