See the Air Max 1 “By Day” & “By Night” on Feet
When Tinker Hatfield came up with the design for the Air Max 1 in 1987, he drew inspirations from the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The building’s unique architecture influenced the idea of visible Air cushioning and the shoe went on to become a true Nike classic.
Now the brand takes it back to the start with the Nike Air Max 1 By Day & By Night pack. Featuring two different AM1 colorways, each iteration reflects a different view at the Centre Pompidou.
The “By Day” (AV3735-002) version uses a light base of white and grey tones. Various lines in red, green, and yellow then mimick the colorful pipes on the Centre Pompidou. The design continues on the translucent outsole, which also shows a special “P” logo. Made up of three ‘P’s, it stands for Paris, Pompidou and pipes. University Red lines on the mudguard and Royal Blue on the Swoosh also reference two classic Air Max 1 colorways.
In contrast to this light approach, the “By Night” (AV3735-001) colorway goes greyscale. Metallic Silver detailing reflects the way the building glints in the city after dark, with a black Swoosh logo finalizing the design.
