New Balance Presents the Made 1978 Silhouette

 In New Balance, News

New Balance announced their latest sneaker silhouette today. The MADE 1978 took inspiration from the classic 990 silhouette that was originally presented in 1978 and creates a whole new and contemporary look in three colorways.

The initial ideas for the 990 silhouette already came up in 1978, but it took the designers and engineers four more years to finally release it. In 1982, the 990 was ready to hit the streets. The 990 made its mark high quality materials, progressive technologies and clean design. These attributes are exactly what New Balance is now bringing together with new features in its modernized version – the MADE 1978.

The New Balance MADE 1978 has a three part upper with a material mix of suede and perforated premium leather, while the characteristic “N” logo is reflective. A brand-new and most modern feature is the Vibram outsole to ensure leight weight, good grip and durability.

The New Balance MADE 1978 is “Made in USA”, hand-produced in Norridgewock, one of the American New Balance manufactures that maintain the high quality standard of the brand.

We were lucky to visit the Norridgewock factory in February ourselves, so stay tuned for our upcoming April issue with a huge report on our U.S. trip!
