Back in 1982, the brand first released their groundbreaking 990v1 model after four years of developement. This running shoe was the first to carry a $100 price tag, which was an astronomical figure at that time. But the shoe’s outstanding quality and sleek style surely helped people to not dwell on that for too long.
Fast forward to 2018 and the New Balance 990 is one of the undisputed legends of sneaker culture. Even though the trainer saw its fourth iteration slight iteration by now, the core character always remained the same. To honor the roots of the 990 and also give something back to its fans at the same time, New Balance presents a limited “1982” edition of the shoe in grey and navy. Only 1500 pairs are available worldwide and will be sold at select NB retailers. And on top of that, the retail price for this release will again be $100 – or 80 €, instead of the usual 200 €!
In Germany for example, 100 pairs will be sold exclusively at Berlin’s Solebox store. People looking to score a pair need to line get a voucher and the store and pick up their at a special location outside of the store. To celebrate your cop, free drinks and some music also await you there!
