New Balance takes another bold leap into the future. In our extensive report on the new 1978 model and its production, we already showed how much attention New Balance is paying to its traditional running heritage while embracing new customers with state-of-the-art technologies and designs.
The new 574S model – currently only available for friends, family, and loyal fans of New Balance – continues the evolution of the brand’s sports style offering. The foundation for the silhouette is the classic 574 model cherished by NB aficionados across the world, expanded with a couple of carefully appointed updates: The tongue now features a sock-like fit around the entry and the new fresh foam midsole has a geometric pattern that folds into various compression zones while walking, thereby enhancing overall stability.
The upper of the 574S model – the “S” is short for “Sport”, by the way – is rendered in all-white with accents in red and blue with hints of grey. Mesh over the toe and loops around the heel enhance the sporty aesthetic.
For now, the shoes are only sent out to a select few lucky recipients and we will keep you posted on news regarding a wider release of this updated classic. Also keep it locked to #547SPORT on the socials.
As a historic side note, the original 574 was already sort of a hybrid. A combination of two different NB sneakers, it’s often called the “original mash-up” by New Balance insiders.
