New Balance is not the kind of brand to flood the market with a brand-new silhouette every other week. So when the New England-based footwear mainstays have something new to show, the industry is paying close attention: For 2017, New Balance introduces the new NB 247 silhouette as a forward-looking addition to its line-up.
Athletic, contoured, and technical – the 247 model is a contemporary running shoe in the spirit of our times, all the while retaining New Balance’s classic design DNA. The stitchless, form-fitting toe box with visible mesh ventilation offers a blue color contrast against the shoe’s classic grey nubuck upper. This duo-tone split pays homage to the blue of the classic New Balance 576 runner, and the grey of the original New Balance 998.
For impact absorption, the shoe sits on a RevLite sole unit – also much like the NB 998 model – with a white and black outsole adorned with grey accents. The outsole wraps around the toe in the style of the NB 1300.
Complementing the shoe’s streamlined silhouette, the New Balance logo is embossed on the upper. The modern-day runner look is rounded out by an entry cuff and pull tabs on the NB 247’s heel and tongue.
For the inaugural run of the shoe, only 247 pairs have been produced, reserved for “friends and family” of the brand. The limited pack – each pair is numbered – includes a luxury leather passport shield, booklet, and leather bag.
The shoe will release to the general public at a later date, but it’s safe to say that the NB 247 will make great strides in 2017 in the spirit of active lifestyles, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
