Sneakers and space travel aren’t as unrelated as one might think initially. Of course we’re not only talking about Space Jam 11s or Galaxy Foams here. KangaROOS‘ DynaCoil cushioning was actually invented by NASA for example. And now VANS taps the US space agency for a full space-themed collab collection.
As there’s no official announcement from both sides yet, we can only rely on some leaked images at this point. A first pic came from Instagram user @dirtymoney823, who provided an in-hand look at a pair of white Old Skools. The clean tumbled leather upper shows the NASA logo and “John F. Kennedy Space Center” lettering printed on one side.
A textile tongue in grey features black tags that read the words “SHUTTLE” and “MISSION”. And next to the usual “VANS OFF THE WALL” logo, Velcro US flag patches also grace the shoe’s back.
Shortly after this first look, a pic that reveals the full “Space Voyager” collection was shared by @StreetNightLive on Twitter. It seems like the complete footwear range includes a second Old Skool colorway, as well as two iterations of the Sk8-Hi 46 MTE DX. One colorway of each the Sk8-Hi MTE and the Classic Slip-On are also included in each kids and toddler sizes.
On top of that, a Snag Plugs Backpack and Grind Skate Duffel complete the collection.
