When two legendary US brands like Levi’s and New Balance team up, we’re in for a special treat. To celebrate both the 35th anniversary of a classic NB silhouette and the distinct styles of the two powerhouses, they now release a limited special edition sneaker. Get ready for the Levis x New Balance 1300.
So what these two companies have in common? Let’s break it down. Both were founded more than 100 years ago. Both stand for quality, functionality plus timeless design. And both managed to gather a fanbase that includes cosmopolitans as well as suburbanites, hypebeasts as well as average joes. That being said, the NB-meets-Levi’s joint project is all but average. In fact, the sneaker combines the finest from each brand.
Manufactured in the USA, the upper uses suede in Levi’s® brown and deadstock White Oak XX52 denim fabric. In addition, the shoe features an orange Levis tag – a first for a sneaker collab with the denim company. To round things out, the 1300 arrives in an exclusive Levi’s for Feet and New Balance collectors box.
DID YOU KNOW?
When the 1300 first released in 1985, New Balance advertised it with the slogan “Mortgage your house”. The tongue-in-cheek ad – typical for the time – hinted at the shoe’s retail price of $130 USD. This price may sound almost laughable at first, but adjusted for inflation, that’s more than 300 bucks today.
