Launch Date: NikeLab Sock Dart Mid x Stone Island Releases Next Week
When it was first released in 2004 at an event in Tokyo, the Nike Sock Dart created a new paradigm in athletic footwear with its breathable, sock-like upper and strap enclosure. The evolution of the original one-piece vamp design has continued ever since, and now gets an extra boost: Injected with a healthy dose of style by Italian tastemakers Stone Island and next-level tech from Nikelab, the NikeLab Sock Dart Mid x Stone Island will release next week.
The new release marks the first-ever mid-cut version of the Sock Dart and features Flyknit with a water-resistant treatment. The water-resistance was achieved thanks to a silicon print on the upper, developed by Stone Island at an experimental workshop in Italy. Additional water protection resulted from filling the holes in the strap, while the shoe’s new duralon outsole implements a multi-directional siping pattern for water dispersion and improved traction.
The NikeLab Sock Dart Mid x Stone Island will premiere in three colorways: black, brown, and navy. Aesthetically, the silicon print also creates an interesting look on the shoe’s upper – a fading dégradé effect – which on a functional level achieves both zonal protection and breathability. The collar of the sock-style mid-top is made of soft, supportive Ariaprene™ and features a cross-branded label on the front.
The NikeLab Sock Dart Mid x Stone Island will launch next Thursday, January 26 at NikeLab retailers, online at Nike with a $200 price tag, and at Stone Island Flagship Stores and their website.
