The unique sneakers of Finnish athletic brand Karhu often go hand-in-hand with their home country’s rich flora and fauna. For their latest release, the footwear designers briefly switch their perspective from the bottom and instead take a glance into the sky. That’s because the Karhu Linnut Pack draws its inspirations from the thriving Finnish bird watching tradition.
Located in the northeast region of Scandinavia, Finland is home to several arctic bird species like the red-flanked blue tail, hawk owls, Siberian jays and white-tailed eagles. And to spot one of these equally rare and beautiful animals in the wild is just like getting your hands on a coveted pair of sneakers. To combine these parallels, Karhu once again takes 1996’s groundbreaking Fusion 2.0 model from the archives.
A color palette from natural greens and light tans to soft greys reflects Finland’s varied nature on the model’s soft suede and nylon mesh upper. These earthy tones are met with hues of Coral Blue, Muted Clay and Pale Khaki, while rope laces add an outdoor feel to the pack. A subtle dose of classic running aesthetics rounds off each shoe thanks to the white Fulcrum-cushioned midsoles.
