Watch the Manufacturing of the KangaROOS Omnirun Ocean 72
It’s not only the brand’s name that indicates KangaROOS‘ strong connection to flora and fauna. After their recent drop already included animal-free sneakers, the sneaker company now raises awareness for protection of the world seas with the KangaROOS Omnirun Ocean 72.
With their collaboration, ROOS and Bracenet want to turn people’s attention to what’s going on in the oceans. The German label collects and recycles so-called “ghost nets”. The term describes disposed fishing nets which make up 10% of the Sea pollution caused by humans. Bracenet’s partners include well known marine protectors like Healthy Seas und Ghost Fishing, the fishing industry and even private persons who collect washed up nets.
The collaborative Omnirun is limited to only 380 pairs worldwide. It features a deep blue base of suede and mesh, while teal accents appear on the tongue and lateral logos. A white midsole and laces as well as stitched Bracnet branding on the heels finalizes the design. Handcrafted in Germany, the sneaker’s upper features materials primarily made of recycled plastic bottles. In addition, every sneakerbox contains a keychain produced by Bracenet, made of old fishing nets.
