Diadora and Hanon look back at quite a series of joint projects. Now the two longstanding collaboraters team up again to celebreate the Italian sportswear brand’s 70th anniversary.
As they did before on models like the Squash “St. Clair”, the Hanon crew delves into the past of their Scottish home town. Aberdeen is not only known for its illustrious football history, but also a unique architecture. Famously referred to as the “Granite City”, many Aberdeen buildings are constructed from grey granite.
For their anniversary collab, Hanon now applied the characteristic looks of the cityscape onto a court shoe that fittingly is also called “Aberdeen”. Manufactured at Diadora’s original factory in Caerano di San Marco, the shoes are handmade and limited to only 200 pairs.
But that’s not the only thing that makes those gems special of course. The grey upper actually consists of a luxurious mix of fine leathers. A super soft calfskin nubuck material meets rugged teasel suede on the toe box, while the heel tab is made from kangaroo leather. Even more premium fabrics are brought in with ostrich leather on the tongue. Finally, a mix of both kangaroo and ostrich leather on the double-layered Diadora side stripe rounds out the special treatment.
The grey upper is contrasted by a black court outsole and red calfskin lining. Collaborative branding can be spotted at the tongue and back tabs, as Aberdeen lettering and Hanon’s flame logo are embossed on the heels in shimmering silver.
