Italian sportswear brand FILA has been one of the most prominent beneficiaries of the resurgance of 90s style in recent years, presenting apparel collections with a distinctive retro flavour that is based on the label’s rich back catalogue from that era. Not only athletes have been repping FILA heavy back in the days, as many artists and musicians also rocked the sportswear styles on the regular – only adding to the legacy of the brand. One of the most memorable occassions is probably the inlay of 2pac’s album “All Eyez on Me”, where the legendary rapper is wearing a pair of FILA Grant Hill 2. Originally released as a signature shoe of the eponymous basketball player, the model is now known as the FILA 96 and will see a re-release with a brand-new colorway. Decked out with an all-black smooth leather upper, the shoes feature a semi-translucent sole in vibrant red. The bottoms show a cross graphic that resembles a tatto on 2Pac’s back, while “All Eyez on Me” lettering and a FILA logo grace the quarters. Another nice detail is the lining with a paisley pattern, referencing a bandana which has gained prominence as one of the rapper’s signature accessories.
