Golf Wang! Wolf Gang! Tyler, the Creator has enriched hip-hop’s vocabulary by a range of new themes. Now the LA-based rapper is taking his unique vibe to footwear. Pairing up with Converse, Tyler – also known for actually being heavily into skateboarding – has just dropped a shoe and apparel collection.
Out now, the collaboration with the Odd Future mastermind features exclusive Converse apparel as well as a unique take on the iconic One Star sneaker, a skateboarders’ favorite, in a “Golf le Fleur” style.
As those of you proficient in French will know, “le fleur” means “the flower” and informs the light colorways of the drop, which are Airway Blue, Peach Pearl, Sulphur, and Fuschia Glow.
The flower motif also features in the flower contrast stitching surrounding the iconic Converse star, embroidered bee logo on heel stay, debossed tonal Golf le Fleur logo on the shoe’s tongue, as well as the Golf le Fleur art illustrated on the sock liner.
Rounding out the package, the words GOLF – with the “o” stylized as a flower – are printed on the shoe’s outsole in bold letters. Tyler also made sure to include some printed messages for his fans, including the insole inscription: “Don’t let ‘em kill your flowers, water your garden and stunt.” And yes, the shoe also ships with a cool satchel bag.
Apparel in the collection consists of Converse Essentials Pull-Over Hoodies and Converse Tees featuring Golf le Fleur graphics, plus a “Golf”-inscribed hat (don’t let your dad steal it to go golfing).
Commenting on the idiosyncratic aesthetics behind the drop, Tyler, the Creator said: “I live in my own head and it all makes sense to me.”
The Converse One Star x Golf le Fleur shoe released August 3 at Converse retailers and online at Converse.com with a €100 price tag. It sold out within seconds, as these flowers were being picked fast. Want to cop? Try eBay.
