CONCEPTS X NIKE FREE TRAINER 1.0
CONCEPTS aus Boston feiert 20. Jubiläum und beginnt die Feierlichkeiten bereits jetzt – mit Nike haben sie noch dazu einen absoluten Hochkaräter als Partner gefunden. Basis der Kollabo ist der Free Trainer 1.0, eigentlich eine Performance-Silhouette. Soweit, so ungewöhnlich, sieht das Ganze jedoch ziemlich vielversprechend aus. Der “Multicolor”-Upper ist in den typischen Wärmebild-Farben gehalten, ähnelt dem Bild einer Wärmebildkamera. Dazu kommt der Schuh mit der weißen Sohle ziemlich kontrastreich und fällt in jedem Fall auf! Die Zunge des Schuhs besteht aus thermoreaktivem Material, das bei Hitze die Farbe verändert.
Einige Fakten: Die Sohle der Free Trainer 1.0 vermittelt das Gefühl, barfuß zu laufen und ist höchst flexibel, das verwendete “Dynamic Flywire”, das wir bereits vom KD8 kennen, sorgt dafür, dass der Schuh in der Bewegung enger und weiter wird.
Um noch einmal auf die Art des Schuhs zurück zu kommen: Es ist etwas untypisch, dass mit dem Free Trainer 1.0 eine aktuelle Performance-Silhouette für eine Kollaboration mit einem Sneakerstore verwendet wird, jedoch auch absolut erfrischend. Die typischen Lifestyle-Modelle gab es mittlerweile in so vielen Farbkombinationen, da tut es gut, auch mal Exoten als Teil von Kollaborationen zu sehen. Vielleicht stößt CONCEPTS hier ja eine kleine Entwicklung an und wir können in Zukunft öfter Kollabo-Varianten von Performance-Modellen sehen.

Boston’s CONCEPTS sneakerstore celebrates it’s 20th anniversary and Nike seems to join the party very early. They teamed up and created a very special version of Nike’s Free Trainer 1.0 performance silhouette. Even it seems to be pretty unusual for a sneakerstore to use a 100% performance silhouette for a collab we have to say that it turns out pretty nice. The multi-colored upper makes the impression of a heat map and seems to have taken it’s inspiration from thermo reactive materials. The highly flexible outsole is white and delivers a great contrast.
Some technical facts: the outsole is highly flexible and creates a barefoot feeling, dynamic Flywire is used to enable the model to tighten and loosen the foot in motion. The tongue even features thermal reactive material that changes it’s color to the “heatmap” look of the upper while heatened.
All in all it is very refreshing to see new silhouettes being used for collaborations instead of the same models over and over again. We can’t wait to see more of this and hope it is a general development.
