Nike and London collective The Basement present the final sneaker of their “City Series”. After their Glasgow- and Manchester-themed Air Max 90s, the Basement x Nike Air Max 90 London pays tribute to the English capital.
One of London’s most famous nicknames is “The Big Smoke”. It alludes to thick clouds of smoke from the burning of coal enveloping the city during the 19th century. In that era, visitors from rural areas started to call the country’s largest city by that name.
For the third entry in their City Series, the folks from The Basement now make that moniker the inspiration for their AM90 design. The shoe features suede and smooth leather uppers, dressed in different grey tones. Sitting below the white midsole, a translucent outsole shows the slogan “Real People Do Real Things”. Finally, four interchangeable Velcro Swooshes allow for swift individualization.

The first joint project between The Basement and Nike already released in 2017. The collaborative Dunk Low featured an all-black upper on a mix of 9 different materials, while a gum outsole served as a color contrast.
