Originally released in 1993, the ASICS Tiger GEL-Kayano Trainer has been a favorite among runners and sneakerheads for decades. Paying homage to the classic, the Japanese brand is bringing back the GEL-Kayano Trainer in two new colorways: yellow and grey.
Next to its GEL-injected sole, the GEL-Kayano Trainer featured a sock-like entry instead of a traditional tongue, as well as structural PU overlays – including an ASICS-branded cage – for added stability. It was created by designer Toshikazu Kayano to meet the needs of long-distance runners and has remained a staple ever since.
The classic also inspired 2015’s evolution, the GEL-Kayano Trainer Evo as well as numerous collabs including a water-proof version of the GEL-Kayano Trainer in dark olive with London based sneaker boutique Footpatrol.
The two new colorways will be available this Friday, January 20, at ASICS Tiger retailers for a suggested retail price of €140.00.
