The ASICS Tiger GEL-DIABLO Is Back
While the anniversary celebrations for 30 years of ASICS GEL technology are in full swing (read our History Check here), another classic member of the GEL legacy is making a return: The Japanese brand is bringing back the ultra-light Asics Tiger Gel-Diablosilhouette from the ASICS archives as a lifestyle edition in a breezy white colorway with black and blue accents.
Originally released in the mid-1990s, the ASICS Tiger GEL-DIABLO proved an instant hit with serious runners at the time due to its breathable upper, GEL cushioning and overall low weight.
For a major update, ASICS is bringing the former running model into the lifestyle realm with a new and improved rubber outsole.
The angular lines in the upper marked a departure from ASICS previous offering, compared to such classics as the GEL-LYTE, and still strikes an individualistic note today as a unique retro runner.
Rounding out the 1990s-style package, the branding on the tongue and the GEL-emblem on the midsole are subtle touches in a new lifestyle staple in the ASICS collection.
Some of you may remember Ronnie Fieg’s version of the shoe in April as a Volcano 2.0 KITH-strike. Now this wider release brings a chance to buy the shoe to a broader audience.
The ASICS Tiger GEL-DIABLO will release on August 12, 2017 with a EUR 120.00 price tag at retailers including Asphaltgold. On-feet opener image courtesy of Asphaltgold.
