It’s almost a good tradition at adidas to combine existing models to create new ones. For their latest release, the German sportswear giant now mixes two of their most celebrated and forward-thinking silhouettes. The adidas Ultra 4D finally hits the shelves in a familiar color combo.
As the name suggest, the shoe takes elements from both the UltraBOOST and the brand’s cutting-edge 4D sneakers. While the latter provides the 3D-printed sole unit, the upper features a Caged Primeknit design. Contrary to most new introductions, the Ultra 4D’s midsole comes in a sleek black tone instead of the usual Ash Green. Made in a patented process using light and air, it benefits from athlete’s data that were collected over the course of several years.
The Ultra 4D’s primary colorway is a clear homage to the original UltraBOOST 1.0, using Core Black with Purple accents on the heel cage. Several leaks suggest that there is at least one additional – Triple White – style on this new model, so it looks like there will be more releases in the future.
DID YOU KNOW?
Both BOOST and 4D soles are meant to be improvements upon the industry standard material, EVA (ethylene vinyl-acetate). Although each technology is made in a different process, both midsole materials are made from a proprietary thermoplastic urethane (TPU).
