Contrary to what the latest retro trends suggest, the 90s weren’t all about chunky sneakers. In fact, one of the predomimant sports of that era was tennis. Next to dazzling personalities like Andre Agassi, one of the outstanding figues was nine time Grand Slam winner and adidas athlete Stefan Edberg. Bringing back one of the Swede’s classic signature sneaker, the brand now releases the adidas Torsion Edberg OG as a Consortium drop.
The Torsion Edberg originally launched back in 1990 and built on the foundation of his first exclusive model with the brand. A sharp serve in vintage aesthetics, the sneaker features a crisp chalk white leather upper with vibrant color accents. Next to purple contrast tone, hits of orange, blue and pink appear throughout the sneaker. The acid green deubre then subtly picks up the color that graces the Torsion bridge in the outsole.
DID YOU KNOW?
Throughout his career, Stefan Edberg won an impressive sum of around 20,6 million dollars in prize money. However, he didn’t just sit back and relax after his retirement from professionel tennis. In addition to working in forest management, Stefan Edberg also helped develop shoes for Nordic walking.
