As we wave goodbye to summer time, autumn season is approaching. In Germany, that means that one of the best-known local traditions is right around the corner: the world famous Oktoberfest! And to make sure your footwear rotation is all set for the festivities, adidas presents not one but to sneakers with rustic Bavarian charme. The adidas Originals Oktoberfest collection features both an exclusive limited edition as well as a high quality general release.
adidas Originals SC Premiere “Prost”
If you’re thinking Lederhosen, folk music and lots of beer when you hear Germany, the “Wiesn” in Munich ticks every box. But for the first sneaker, adidas adds even more Bavarian powerhouses to the equation. To present the SC Premiere “Prost”, the Herzogenaurach brand enlisted Bayern Munich striker Serge Gnabry. On top of that, the shoe will be exclusively available via raffle at famed Munich sneaker and streetwear store BSTN. Limited to only 100 pairs, the shoe works as ticket for the VIP area of the Paulaner tent on the famous first Sunday of Oktoberfest.
The shoe itself appears in a classic look with a Bavarian flag insole and the word “Prost” (German for “Cheers) embossed in golden letters on the sides. The special box contains a selection of goodies created in collaboration with Paulaner. Those include a beverage coaster, pins and a bottle opener.
adidas Originals München Made in Germany
While the second sneaker for the common folk won’t grant you guaranteed access to higher circles, you’ll be perfectly prepared for typical hustle and bustle of Oktoberfest. The adidas Originals München Made in Germany comes in two colorways. Both use premium full-grain leather uppers that withstands any drops of liquid. In addition to the classic brown edition that reminds of typical Lederhosen, a beige version completes the duo. Both shoes feature the signature 3-Stripes, off-white applications on the heel and the word “Prost” to round off the adidas München Oktoberfest edition.
To celebrate the release of the two shoes, adidas and BSTN invited celebs like model Lena Gercke, rapper Sido and football star David Alaba to stage an oversized version of a traditional family portrait. The horse-drawn carriage of Paulaner, one of the six original Oktoberfest breweries, adds local authenticity.
