The intersection of athletic performance technologies and street-savvy designs proved one of 2016’s biggest fashion trends and continues to go strong. For 2017, adidas Originals continues its long line of collaborations with Japanese designer label White Mountaineering, masterminded by Yosuke Aizawa.
True to Yosuke Aizawa’s penchant for outdoor-inspired designs, the adidas Originals by White Mountaineering Spring/Summer 2017 Collection features an array of technical windbreakers, track tops, tees, and track pants that can be combined into monochromatic outfits with bold geometric accents and carefully placed contracts.
And there’s footwear: The release marks the arrival of new and coveted adidas Originals silhouettes with that special White Mountaineering twist – most notably generous use of bold-typeface branding – on understated colorways that match the apparel collection. As for previous collabos, some of you may remember Fall 2016’s White Mountaineering versions of the NMD City Sock, Tubular Nova and EQT Running Support ’93, or April 2016’s Energy Boost.
Kicking off the 2017 footwear line-up, new models such as the NMD Trail, NMD R2 and EQT Support Future received Yosuke Aizawa’s twist, true to her label’s “urban mobility” ethos. Details include co-branded labels on the tongues and heel tabs, as well as bold placement of White Mountaineering-branded reflective 3-Stripe accents, together with Boost soles and technical materials such as Primeknit. The classic Campus model is also re-imagined in monochromatic navy and black versions with tonal lacing and clean white outsoles.
The first instalment of the adidas Originals by White Mountaineering Spring/Summer 2017 Collection will arrive January 19 at adidas Originals Flagship Stores, Online and select retailers. A second drop has been announced for March 2017. Watch this space and the adidas Originals website for updates.
