adidas Brings Back Late-90s EQT Style
Once again, adidas looks to the archives for some retro inspiration to turn into a fresh 2019 style. Based on a 20-year old Equipment model, the adidas EQT Gazelle delivers chunky extravaganza for him and her.
Despite its overpronounced look, this new silhouette deliberately caters to the performance sneaker trend. The archival prototype was a textbook running sneaker, made particularly for marathon runners. The EQT Gazelle mimicks its dynamic look and lightweight construction, placing stabilizing leather overlays on a mesh base. In addition to finalizing the throwback look, a thick EVA sole unit also provides comfy cushioning. And thanks to its vibrant colorways that mix crisp white foundations with flashy color accents, the two Men’s and one Women’s versions add authentic retro flavor to your sneaker rotation.
DID YOU KNOW?
For the original Equipment Gazelle, adidas used the slogan “we’re not a shoe company, WE’RE A FOOT COMPANY”. That’s because the shoe combined some of the brand’s most advanced sneaker technology to create a top notch running model. It featured adiPRENE cushioning, an Extended Torsion system as well as adiPRENE+ for optimized energy return. Ads from back in the day told marathon runners to worry about their training, recovery time and diet – “But don’t worry about your feet. That’s what we do.”
