adidas EQT Brings Back the 95 Equipment Vibe
As of lately, adidas has already been launching quite a couple of interesting releases under the classic sportswear-oriented EQT umbrella. Following an array of new materials and state-of-the-art tech with the Snakeskin ADV Support and the EQT Black Friday Pack, the Three Stripes now take it back to the basics and draw inspiration from their 90s roots. For the very first time, the color “EQT Blue” from the 95 generation will be featured on a Cushion silhouette. But what’s the story behind all the different EQT color themes? Let’s have a little look at that first before we got to the latest release.
1991: The Original – EQT Green
When the EQT line first started back in 1991, it was a “No bullshit” approach – the very best of adidas, boiled down to the foundation of athletic gear. “Everything that’s essential. Nothing that’s not.” was the slogan that introduced these footwear styles with not only the now world-famous three bar logo, but also the classic EQT Green. Featured on many of the initial models like the EQT Running Support, Cushion OG or Racing OG, the fresh and sporty tone was closely associated with the Equipment line for quite a while.
1995: The Alternative – EQT Blue
To add some variation to their newly established and pretty popular line, adidas started to dress some of the later 90s EQT models in this color hue we’re talking about today. But even though models like the Equipment 4.3 and EQT Advanced were released with striking hits of that color, EQT Blue never made its way to the original Cushion silhouette.
2016: The Reboot – Turbo Red
For a fresh start into 2017, adidas opted for a radical change in its well-established sub-label by introducing the aggressive Turbo Red on future-oriented styles like the EQT Support 93/17 or EQT Support ADV. Meant to mark a new chapter for EQT as a whole, the vibrant red symbolizes an uncompromising and modern approach to sportswear.
As mentioned before, the mid-90s alternate EQT color never graced the uppers of the original Cushion models back then. That’s why adidas now channels all of the OG greatness by applying not only premium materials that are inspired by the originals to the adidas EQT Cushion ADV. Releasing in four new colorways this December, the models finally receive their much deserved hits of EQT Blue to revive the 95 Equipment vibe.
