adidas builds on its well-tried performance shoe experience to introduce the new adizero Pro. Catering to the needs of marathons runners, the model is the German athletic brand’s fastest distance running yet. During the design process, Mary Keitany – world record holder in a women-only marathons – provided valuable input.
The adizero continues breaking records with Haile Gebrselassie in 2008, Mary Keitany in 2017 – and most recently Rhonex Kipruto’s blistering 10km World Record in January 2020. The line’s Pro model now features a brand-new last, created by none other than Yoshitori Omori. In addition, adidas incorporated their latest technology into this silhouette.
As a debut on a running shoe, the LIGHTSTRIKE midsole – which first apparead in the NXTLVL basketball sneaker – combines energy return and stability. To ensure flexibility at touchdown and a snappy toe-off for maximum propulsion and an economically guided stride, an all-new CARBITEX plate also appears in the shoe. The final new feature is CELERMESH, the brand’s thinnest mesh ever. Used on the upper, it gives lightweight wearing comfort at perfect lockdown. Familiar sights for sneakerheads, the BOOST cushioning element in the heel and a Continental rubber outsole then round things out.
“On race day you need to know that you’re wearing the best equipment possible so you can focus purely on the running. For me, the adizero Pro provides that peace of mind I need when I block everything out and get that tunnel vision.”Mary Keitany, four time New York City Marathon winner
