Last weekend, the good people from adidas invited us over to a special location in Berlin. The ocassion? A very exciting product launch that’s about to go down in just a couple of days: the adidas Falcon W.

After previously providing you with some first details about the upcoming Women’s sneaker, we were now heading for Berlin and hit the special location. Here we teamed up with our company for the day: model Kicki Yang Zhang and photographer Kane!
To match both the shoe’s playful design and also its retro inspirations, adidas came up with the perfect setting. The whole spot featured a dope fairground theme – including bumper cars, a ball pit, swing carousel and a gigantic dinosaur.

You can check out our exclusive editorial by Kicki and Kane below to see how these two creatives styled the unique sneaker in its natural habitat.
And for those who want to pick up a little knowledge on the go, we’ve also compiled 5 quick facts about the adidas Falcon W.

1. The Origin
All adidas “Falcon” shoes share a common origin: the Falcon Dorf. This silhouette first released in 1997 and is one of those clunky classics from the rich adi archives.

2. The Name
When the adidas Running team struggled to find a name for this new silhouette, their daily routine included a run through the German forest and Franconian villages. “Falkendorf” was one of these small towns near the adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach. Its name was internationalized to “Falcon Dorf”, while the “W” obviously stands for “Women’s”.

3. The Comeback
In 2018, the Falcon Dorf returns in nearly 1:1 form – even though it wants you to call it “Yung-1” now to detract from its advanced age. The Falcon W however is a refined female version that uses the OG models as inspiration.

4. The Sole
Even though the Falcon W uses a unique upper construction, both the new women’s model and the Yung-1 share the same tooling ID. And the chunky sole not only makes for this typical 90s look, its soft EVA-compounds also provide great comfort.

5.The Release
The adidas Falcon W (BB9173) releases on June 2, 2018 at adidas.com at 0:00 (CET). Sizes range from EUR 36 (UK 3.5) to EUR 43 1/3 (UK 9). The Falcon W goes for 99,95 €.
You can also cop a pair in adidas Originals flagship stores and at select Three Stripes retailers like The Good Will Out, Afew and 43einhalb.
