“Shots in the Air” Competition & Workshop
With Air Max Day just around the corner, we teamed up with Nike and SNIPES to hold our Shots in the Air Competition in Berlin. Eight up and coming sneaker photographers were picked from a huge pool of applicants and invited to the German capital to take part in a photography workshop hosted by professional shooter Kane Holz (@kane). The contestants were: Simon Kosnicki, Gianni Chiarello, Nik Müller, Sebastian Reichardt, Luis Sulzmann, Mattheos Grawe, Niklas Datum, Phil König and Jerome Janßen.
After leaving the Ellington Hotel, the weekend started with a personal tour of the Nike offices located at Bikini Berlin close to the Kaiser-Wilhelm memorial church. After a litte Q&A with Kane – complete with snacks, drinks and finger food in the Nike facilities –, branded black limos were waiting outside for the winners, who were equipped with a branded Nike x Snipes bean bag, a flashlight, a disposable camera and of course a brand new pair of Air Max to make the experience complete.
The practical part of the workshop took place at the event location and art space called Kraftwerk Berlin, a former power plant in the eastern part of Berlin, which had been especially prepared for the occasion to cater for all of the aspiring photographers’ needs: There were separate spots with different lighting and fog cannons. Even the rooftop was open for sneaker snaps. But that’s not the end of the story. The three best photos taken on that day will be featured on SNIPES social media channels and on Sneakers Magazine.
Well prepared – the photographers had different locations with various props to chose from.
A large sign welcomed the shooters. They were picked by Kane, Snipes and Sneakers Mag from all the applicants.

Of course not without proper Nike Air Max product. Everyone got his fair share of free stuff.
Amazing location. There was everything – different light situations, fog, various objects …
Kraftwerk Berlin was a dream location for everyone.
After shooting comes editing…
