Ralph Lauren Brings Back the Polo “Snow Beach” Collection
Ralph Lauren’s Polo line was one of the most prominent represenatives of the 90s’ colorful aesthetics. And with the recent resurgance of that era’s fashion trends, the American premium clothing brand brings back one of its most recognizable releases from back in the days: the “Snow Beach” collection. Originally featuring hoodies and hats, the standout piece definitely was the pullover jacket that Wu-Tang member Raekwon wore in 1993’s “Can It Be All So Simple” music video. The vibrant garment in flashy yellow and navy blue features Polo’s typical flag patches and a bold “SNOW BEACH” lettering in the front. Over the years, the jacket became easily the most sought-after vintage RL item on the market, beloved by streetwear enthusiasts and die-hard ‘Lo heads like super-producer Just Blaze alike. During recent years, many brands from Saucony to The Hundreds picked up the designs and put their own twist on it – but now the real deal is finally back.
Ralph Lauren channels the aesthetics of its Fall 1993 snowboard collection on a range of apparel for a 2018 re-release. Split into two drops, the first one uses the original vibrant color-blocking on a poncho, tops, headwear and even a pair of sneakers – and of course the original “Snow Beach” jacket made famous by Raekwon the Chef. The second launch then applies striking “SNOW BEACH” letters to a monochromatic capsule. You can take a look at the former pieces which were captured in a dope editorial by END. Clothing.
