No Time For Hype
A Love Letter to General Releases
From Off White’s “The Ten” to another Yeezy colorway, bulky Balenciagas or the next adidas Consortium release, there are more limited sneakers than ever before. On top of that, everybody knows about them. Even your mother might ask you about Kanye West’s new shoes, and your little brother might have them before you. The truth is, you can’t really surprise anyone anymore by having the most limited sneakers. And nobody will tap you on the shoulder because of your style when you’re one of the thousand other people wearing the next hype shoe on an Instagram stream.
Style is way more than just a hyped item; it’s about who you are, what you do and of course what you wear. But if you’ve found the right way to express yourself, you actually don’t need any Virgil Abloh or Kanye West to build a perfect outfit. Sure, those three guys will also look good on you, but choosing a general release over a hyped item might unexpectedly be the best way to surprise people with your style.
Seeing someone rocking a Reebok Classic, Converse One Star or Nike Air Force 1 with their very own touch is way more refreshing than seeing yet another very limited shoe on almost the very same outfit on a lot of people. To show you some authentic ways of having your own style while wearing sneakers anybody can buy at anytime anywhere, we want to introduce you to seven Berlin creatives. Each one represents his or her very own style that is built around their character – what they do and what they stand for.
No time for hype releases; long live the generals.
