Designer Riccardo Tisci is no stranger to Nike collabs. For his fourth joint venture with Nike, RT went deep into the Swoosh archives and unearthed an interesting silhouette: Released in 1990, the Nike Aqua Boot had been built with sailing and wind surfing in mind, but ultimately found its home on city streets as a subculture favorite.

The Aqua Boot sole now serves as the foundation for the NikeLab Air Zoom Legend x RT. The Givenchy creative director created the futuristic-looking high top in two versions, both injected with a healthy dose of tech courtesy of NikeLab, including Zoom Air cushioning.

The first boot features a basketball-inspired mesh upper on an icy blue transparent outsole adorned with pink and yellow heel accents. The Swoosh is executed in a subtle dark grey treatment that matches the abrasion protective layer around the side and toe.

The second version goes full-on designer style with a subtle grey floral pattern on black jacquard on the upper (trend watch 2017: floral patterns still blooming), contrasted by a white midsole. The outsoles on both shoes contain geometric, streamlined midsole tooling.

As final touches, the designer – inspired by the connection between land and sea in Rio de Janeiro – added RT and Nike-embroidered pull tabs, leather lining, and logo-printed insoles. The floral pattern is also included on a cross-branded drawstring backpack included with each pair.

The NikeLab Air Zoom Legend x RT will release tomorrow, December 8, at NikeLab retailers and online.
