MoMA x OFF-WHITE x Nike Air Force 1 ’07
With Virgil Abloh’s “THE TEN” Nike collab being one of the most celebrated sneaker releases of 2017, the two continue their partnership this year by deconstructing more Swoosh silhouettes and applying the now-signature sample look to them. As new images of a rework on the Air Force 1 07 appear, the box label reveals that another collaborator has been added to the project for this one. MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art, is located in Midtown Manhattan and houses some of the most important works from all fields of modern and contemporary art – including design.
The shoe itself is dressed in an all black smooth leather upper with white laces and featuring the usual “AIR” lettering, cable strap as well as revealed stitching on the silver Swoosh. Since no further details on the sneakers point to MoMA, it seems possible that this special Air Force 1 will be presented at the museum in a special event or exhibition. Nothing of the sort has been announced yet, but this would surely be an outstanding accolade for Virgil Abloh’s recent design work with Nike.
