DASHAPE Madrid Recap
Some of my german friends say that spaniards are like “mañana…mañana…”(tomorrow…tomorrow), and maybe it´s a little bit true, but this time and thanks to two enthusiast and proffesional organisers, the time has come and has been “HOY” (today) and Madrid has turned into the capital city of sneakers during the 14 and 15th of June. Dashape was born as the first macro-sneaker event in Spain under the Buy- Sell – Exhibit slogan.
This event was celebrated in the old ESTACIÓN DEL NORTE, and old metro station, perfect stage for an impresive show with a large variety of stores, activities, exhibitions and of course sneakers, sneakers and more sneakers.
Dashape was conceived by Reyes Yllera and Jace, two sneaker enthusiasts wishing to create a Made in Spain event. It took several months of negociation and organisation but finally and with the help of brands, stores and collectors they have been able to make it possible.
As for the stores, there was a rich representation on the Spanish hand with stores such as EDONORA, PAXANGA, TUTIPLEIN, MELONKICKS, and so on.
Brands like Bodega, Asics or Adidas also supported the event. Sneakers Magazine was there, and according to the opinion of lots of visitors, with one of the best stands in the place. A long cage full of vintage heat has been its card of presentation in the Spanish capital city. In that cage we could see 4 differenced parts: Converse Basket, Mc Enroe Tribute, Nike Basket and Nike running featuring some really difficult to see gems that inmediately caught visitors attention.
Dashape opened its doors on Saturday 14th, and since the first moment people came in mass. More than 2600 visitors during the 2 days of show. People wishing to find their grails, people wishing to met other sneaker lovers, people trying to make good deals, but above all, people sharing a passion.
There we attended to several monster sells such as some pairs of Yeezys or nice trades like Lebron 8 South Beach x Foam Supreme.
As for vintage there were lots of trades. Some vintage lovers had a good day grabbing nice pairs of Nike Zoom Street, Target, Air Base, Allmost or Windrunners from 86…also some Converse (All Star Celtics, Lakers, Startech…and so on)
In my case, I came home very happy with 2 pairs of Adidas Zeus and 1 pair of Adidas Lider (all made in Spain in the late 70´s early 80´s)…
Apart from that, we enjoyed good music, graffiti painting, Sneaker art and good beer…so Are you ready for DASHAPE 2015?????
