As the sneaker world is slowly starting to get accustomed to the new year, adidas seems to already have their release strategy figured out for the start of 2018. Of course there has been the introduction of the Prophere – but ever since the first actual 3D-printed pairs made their way into the hands of Three Stripes friends and family, fans have been dying to see a proper release that uses the innovative Futurecraft technology. Appearing as a sort of anthithesis to the bulky Prophere, the adidas Futurecraft 4D’s tooling is constructed with the 4D Digital Light Synthesis process. The result is a semi-hollow midsole in the vein of the brand’s super-lightweight BOOST cushioning – only with perforations to reduce the weight even further.
The official launch date for this shoe has been postponed several times, but now the”Ash Green” colorway will be the first iteration to hit the shelves in 2018. The sneaker shows the Futurecraft sole being paired with an equally perforated Primeknit upper in Core Black. Just like you’re used to from the UltraBOOST, the 4D-printed midsole is protected by a durable Continental outsole, while tonal laces and Three Stripes branding maintain the shoe’s sleek cutting-edge look.
